One of the favorite pastimes of retired folks is to go bird watching, of course if you are fortunate enough to live in an area where bird congregate then it might be wise to get them to come to you instead. I retired early and enjoy the local wildlife here and relaxing a bit. Okay so I am retired and still I keep a things to do list up to remind me of pressing matters that I must tend too. But the other day, I had only one item on my; To Do List! Hang up the new bird feeder.
Well, in all seriousness, it was not actually only one bird feeder, you see I went to the Super Wal-Mart and purchased several different versions, 2-Humming Bird Feeders with nectar, 2-Plastic Houses that hold bird seed. A special tube of bird seed for Finches and a peanut butter smelling brick that goes into a little metal cage, apparently, all these items are specially made to attract the birds. These bird feeders are excellent tools if you would like to see the birds up close and right outside your window.
Sounds cool, and I bet you are wondering if they work well? Yes, too well, now I am wondering what my new budget needs to be for bird seed and mind you the giant bag at Wal-Mart is only .00 but it looks like I am going to go thru it about every other month. The nectar was depleted by thirsty humming birds in about two-weeks and that stuff is not cheap even when you mix it by 1-third.
Of course, I am very satisfied with my purchases because the birds are very fun and pleasant to watch and I have a huge sliding glass door and they are right there, easy to view, and do not seem to be too concerned that I am sitting here typing away writing this article about them.
